Sticker Pics

Hello hello!

Here are some sticker pictures that I took with Yuri and Smelly in June during Smelly's visit.

Man, Korean girls are experts at looking cute in these. We were so confused about what poses to do, and the timer was so fast. Yeah yeah, I know we look silly, but it was really fun. Good times!

Half-Marathon in December

안녕!

I think I'm going to sign up for this half marathon in December. It's about 8 weeks away, which gives me about two solid months of training. But with my schedule, I don't have much time to run on the weekends, especially with Chuseok coming up, my cousin visiting, and my trip to Hong Kong. But I think I'll make up for it on the weekdays. Hopefully...

Well since I started this whole thing about what I miss about home... another thing I really miss is being active. In college, I went to the gym almost everyday. After college, I joined a bunch of running clubs and ran my first half-marathon under two hours. Woot woot! After coming to Korea, there weren't that many opportunities to run or play sports. I tried running around Central Park in Bucheon. That was all right, until the temperature started to drop below zero! As a girl, I was ignored when I wanted to play basketball. I tried running up the twenty flights of stairs, but the janitors always seemed to be in there. Joining a gym was too expensive. And so the pounds piled on...

This time around, I made it my mission to be more active. I do play volleyball in Bucheon when I get the chance, and I did take dance classes. I went hiking once (pictures below). I also plan to borrow a friend's bike and try to bike all the way to Seoul one day. I want my friend to add air to his basketball so I can shoot around a few nights a week; the basketball courts are right by my place. And once it gets colder, I'm going to join this gym right by my work. It's a mad deal, only 80,000 won for three months. The gym is pretty small, but their treadmills have TVs, plus I saw a cute guy in there. Haha. I might join the gym in November just so I can see exactly how many miles I'm actually running. Or just wing it, like I did last time! But, I really hope that signing up for this half will motivate me even more to run.

Well, here are some of the photos from a hike at Dobong Mountain in Northern Seoul.

We had an awesome view overlooking Seoul.

The first vista point we reached. We were so happy to get a good view of the city!

Higher...

The descent was a little scary. There weren't many people around and we were zooming down pretty fast. There were also times when we lost the path. We were so happy when we actually saw people!

Now, I'm 90% sure I'm going to sign up for the half. My last run was a few days ago, about three miles. So I'll probably head out for a 4-5 mile run now. Yay!

Take care!

What I Can't Live Without...

So I didn't get off to a good start, eh? Well... last night after work, I went to my aunt's cousin's place near Seoul for dinner and to pick up my iPod touch. After a delicious home-made dinner, we sat around and talked, ate fruits, looked at pictures, watched dramas. I ate so much!! Haha. My aunt and I stayed up late watching this Korean show where they help people get out of difficult situations. It was kinda depressing... Anyways, I stayed the night and woke up early this morning to the smell of yummy food. It was nice eating a breakfast that didn't come from a box or an instant packet. Again, I ate a lot (too much) - side dishes, two bowls of rice, kimchi stew, soup, bread. What can I say, I had a good morning! ^^

I really miss home-cooked meals and it was really really nice to be around family. Even though it technically wasn't even my family, I just miss being around a family in general. I'll be spending Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) next weekend with Judy and some of her relatives, so I'm looking forward to that! Being so many miles away from home, I miss countless things, but the thing I miss most is my family. I could live anywhere in the world, as long as I have my family with me!

So the one thing I can't live without... family!

Epik High Concert #3

Hey! So from now on, I'm going to try to update my blog everyday. With pictures, too! I'm not so sure about the latter, or even the first, but I'm going to try. I find that I only update when I have something interesting to say, but that's going to change starting today!!! I can't guarantee that my posts will be the least bit interesting, but for those of you who are interested, click the follow button on the bottom left! Follow me! What a coincidence, Epik High's new single just so happens to be 따라해!~ Check out their music video here, it's hilarious!

Speaking of Epik High... yep! This past weekend, I went to another Epik High concert. It's the third Epik High concert I've been, too and of course, it was awesome! I love their music, and I love seeing them live. They also had some awesome guests. As honorary 4th member, MYK was there, but Dynamic Duo and Drunken Tiger also came out! My three favorite Korean hip-hop groups - couldn't have asked for more!

It was a good, relaxing weekend. On Sunday night, my friend Yuri and I went to get some Americanized Chinese food in Bundang. We ordered a lot of food - Hot and Sour Soup, General Tsao's Chicken, Garlic Vegetables, and Beef Chow Fun. The waiter was like, "I think that's too much food..." Pschhh! Did we finish, you ask? Ummm, is that even a question?! Of course, I ate everything. The Beef Chow Fun was good, tasted pretty close to what I could get back at home, but everything else was just all right (too much green onions in everything!). But then again I've been really spoiled by my dad and grandparents' cooking plus SF food.

Man, I miss real Chinese food so much! I can't wait to go to Hong Kong in November. Even though it's just for a weekend, you can bet that I'll be spending the whole weekend eating everything and anything. Mmmm, I can taste the food already...

More tomorrow! ^^

Lunch

Of course, Asian parents always want to make sure their children are eating well. My dad always asks me if I've eaten and what I've eaten. So the first two weeks or so, I took a bunch of pics on my phone to show him my lunch. Now I'm finally posting them!

POLY provides free lunch for the teachers; we eat what the students eat - rice, soup, and side dishes. For the past month, a different Korean teacher has been serving me my lunch. She actually gives me more side dishes (fills everything with side dishes, and the soup and more side dishes on the side) and less rice, but I'm still hungry after lunch. =_= Anyways, enjoy the pictures.

More to come soon! ^^~
